During several projects employing the medium cast concrete, Tom Pearman has undertaken collaborative creative sessions to explore the narratives for these projects. These sessions involved exploring casting possibilities and were conducted with a variety of public groups, including youth schemes, local residents, young offenders and school children.

Often the sessions would examine ways in which casting techniques can be employed in a simple and versatile manner using plaster of Paris and clay, and every day objects ranging from toys to mobile phones to ice cream.

The technique of using a positive and negative image or cast is a process that Tom often employs in a variety of projects and artworks, including CAD machining and screen printing.
